I Hit Publish: Painting the Whiskey Blue

I did it. I did the deed. I thought about holding off until May 12 when the eBook will go live, but decided against it. This baby is ready for release. And as a promise to my mailing list subscribers, you get to hear it first.

It will take up to 72 hours for Amazon to pass the manuscript through it’s final review process. Of the times I have hit publish, this is always somehow a shock to my friends that it isn’t available instantly. Throughout the years, this has caused me to realize that there are many misconceptions about the writing and publishing industry—both traditional and independent. So, I decided to write an additional post to help non-writers understand. It only covers the tip of the iceberg, but I’m willing to write more posts to cover any burning questions.

Due to my dedication to pushing one book out into the world this past month, there is not much else to report. I am late to you all with my monthly updates, and will be spending the next week deep in meditation in the nature of northern Germany.

Forget the books you want to write. Think only of the book you are writing.

Writing Stats for April

Doubled my word count from last month by focusing on a smaller daily goal, which I still didn’t accomplish every day. Total word count for the year is 186,106.
